Rural Aid, www.ruralaid.org.au has a program called Gift of Music, www.giftofmusic.org.au
They help enable disadvantaged children in rural and remote areas gain access to musical instruments, through the donation of preloved/no longer used (and new) band and orchestral instruments, to rural and remote school music programs in need.
They've written to us asking if anyone can assist.
Please see the flyer attached below
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday the 27th of March. We will rehearse until 8.30 and then hold the AGM after the break. It is really important we have everyone there for the AGM to hear an update on the status of the orchestra and confirm the 2018 committee. If you are interested in joining the committee for 2018 please see one of the committee members. There are lots of roles with different levels of input and time needed - if you think you can bring your skills to the committee we would love to have you!
This week we will rehearse as normal until the break, and then after the break we will have a strings only rehearsal. It is important that everyone still comes for the first half of the rehearsal so we can be really efficient and effective in what we focus on. In the lead up to the concert we will have a few rehearsals like this (details tbc).
For all section principals, please see Matt in the break for a quick chat about planning some upcoming sectionals.
This week on the rehearsal roster it is lower strings. Next week will be Woodwinds and Brass.

Attached is the repertoire for our Queen Street Mall concert on Saturday 3 March. A reminder of how the mall concerts work:
As discussed at rehearsal, many hands make light work and we are starting a rehearsal roster to help set up and pack up including helping with the percussion. Each week a different section will be responsible for overseeing set up/ pack up.
Here is the rehearsal roster for the coming weeks - if your section is on the roster, you will be in charge of setting up/ packing up the orchestra.
