The Brisbane Concert Orchestra (BCO) was formed by the Australian conductor, John Curro AM MBE in 1966. Since then, BCO has gone on to become a vibrant community orchestra that plays a mix of classical and light entertaining music. BCO performs regularly throughout the year at both community and corporate events. In 2016, the orchestra celebrated it's 50th Anniversary with a sold out gala concert in Brisbane City Hall, Main Auditorium.
Musical Director - Matthew Schwarz
Known for his energy and enthusiasm both on and off of the podium, Matthew Schwarz has served as the Musical Director of the Brisbane Concert Orchestra since 2015.
Matthew studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and has been mentored by conductors such as John Curro, Guy Noble and Peter Morris.
Matthew has previously served as Chief Conductor/CEO of the Queensland Philharmonia Orchestra through which he conducted music for the State of Origin and became a member of the Queensland Leaders: Future Leaders Program. Matthew is currently undertaking further study in Law at the Queensland University of Technology whilst serving as the Member for Yeerongpilly in the Queensland Youth Parliament.
