Do you love making music, meeting new people, and performing live? Did you play an instrument in high school or university and want to get back in to it? Like a variety of music from classical to Broadway and pop? Then why not get in touch with us by filling out the form below and join the worlds friendliest orchestra!
Limited vacancies currently exist for the following instruments:
If you play an instrument not listed above and are interested in joining us, please get in touch as we will keep your details on record for any future vacancies.
What standard do I have to be to join the orchestra?
The general standard of our players is at least AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) Grade 7 or above. If you’re not sure whether our orchestra would be right for you, come along to a rehearsal or two and try it out.
Do I need to audition?
Brisbane Concert Orchestra does not hold formal auditions. Instead, we like potential members to come along to a rehearsal or two and play with the orchestra.
Where and when does the orchestra rehearse?
We rehearse at the Old Museum Building (480 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills) from 7:30pm – 9:30pm on Wednesday nights. Limited parking is available at the venue but there is ample parking on nearby streets. We encourage attendance at all rehearsals and performances but we also appreciate that from time to time, work and family issues pop up that prevent you from keeping these commitments.
What are the membership fees?
Our fee is $160 per calendar year (approximately $4/rehearsal over the entire year). Full-time students pay only $60 per calendar year. The fee can be paid in two installments if that arrangement suits you better. Genuine financial needs that can’t be overcome by making two separate payments can be discussed discreetly with a member of the committee so we can come to an arrangement that suits everyone.
